Video: Parenting in Europe as a Ghanaian: A Cross-Cultural Perspective

In the video below, I presented on parenting to a group of young parents from the Netherlands/Belgium District of the Young Adults Fellowship (YAF) of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG). My presentation was based on both biblical and psychological principles, as the audience was Christian. I discussed factors that affect children’s behavior and parenting styles, and then went on to describe important stages in a child’s life and what parents should look out for. I emphasized the importance of catering to children’s needs while balancing parental support and control, and gradually giving autonomy to children as they grow. Finally, I mentioned that parenting can be stressful, but if parents make time for their children, they will see positive results in their children’s actions.

Note that the presentation is delivered in a mixture of English and Twi. However, subtitles are provided in English to assist those who speak only English.
